Rockne O'Bannon, Gigi Edgley and Wayne Pygram talk The Peacekeeper Wars

In the latest issue of Dreamwatch magazine (#119 - Sarah Michelle Gellar/Gillian Anderson/Jennifer Garner cover), out now in the UK, Farscape creator and co-writer of The Peacekeeper Wars, Rockne O'Bannon, discusses several aspects of the mini-series. The issue also includes interviews with Gigi Edgley and Wayne Pygram. Some exerpts follow.
On the premise of the mini-series:
"The struggle between the two most powerful factions in the galaxy comes to which Crichton has been fighting little battles in for four years of the series comes to a head. It comes down to there being only one individual who can affect who is victorious or whether there's a war or not, and I think we can all guess who that is! The mini-series picks up immediately where the cliffhanger from season four left off, and it just spins wildly from there into this very big saga. Obviously the Crichton and Aeryn romance cones to a classic peak, and everything's heightened and cranked up to red on all fronts."
On the story in relation to what was planned for season five:
"In some regards the mini-series is what would have played in season five, but in a much more condensed version. That makes it more intense, fast paced and highly charged. If we had played the story out over the entire fifth season, over 22 hours, there would be aspects that would have been more detailed, but I don't think you're really missing anything in the four-hour version."
Regarding the future of the series, he encouragingly says, "It's a resolution for the time being to the tale and these characters." There's much more to the interview, in which Rockne also touches upon the cancellation, and leaving the running of the show to David Kemper and Brian Henson in Australia.
In her interview, Gigi Edgley says of the mini-series: "It certainly did rock, in ways I'd never expected. I hope we get close to what everyone out there wanted from the return of Farscape. [...] It will rock people's souls. It certainly rocks the characters. It will test the bravest of hearts and will bring out many interesting colours."
Gigi also discusses how she feels playing Chiana and what she's done since Farscape.
Meanwhile, Wayne Pygram reflects on The Peacekeeper Wars: "In some ways it's like a 'best of Farscape'. We have lots of shoot-'em-ups and lots of poignant moments, etc etc. It's not a deliberate thing, but, nonetheless, there are elements of everything we've done. There is closure with some storylines from the past, but then there's new stories to be told. Other things happen as a consequence of closure, and you're left wondering what if, in the future, sucj and such occurs. It opens another little Pandora's Box of potential storylines and outcomes."
In addition, he discusses what it was like stepping back into the Scorpius costume, whether he would play Scorpius again in the future and the return of Harvey.
